We have exciting news! Facebook users will soon be able to browse and buy products directly from a business’ Facebook page or Instagram profile.
In a Facebook Live session, Mark Zuckerberg explained: The basic idea is that any small business can easily start a shop to sell things directly across our apps. If you visit someone’s shop, you’ll be able to see that small business’s story, see their featured products, and buy them in our apps.”
He also noted that this will be helpful to many small businesses suffering from the pandemic – small businesses that Facebook wants to support and help them survive this situation.
As people are quarantined, physical storefronts are having a hard time staying open and millions of people are losing their jobs. Facebook shops are free and easy to create virtual stores that will keep small businesses alive and help them expand their reach.
After setting up the Facebook shop, it will appear on your Facebook and Instagram accounts, and soon on Messenger and WhatsApp as well. They are integrated and fast, with no more app-switching to a slow mobile web browser and re-entering your card when you tap on a product in feeds.
One of the most interesting features in the near future will be Live shopping across Facebook and Instagram, which will allow you to shop on Live in real-time.
Lastly, to truly pave the way for a flying car, spaceship Blade Runner-future is the Facebook shop augmented reality feature to let you virtually try on things like sunglasses, lipstick, or makeup. You will be able to see how the products might look on you before buying, or how pieces of furniture will fit in your room.
With the age of digitalization at its peak, this was an expected step in the evolution of businesses. But what do you think could come next? Could people wake up one day and realize that the concept of websites or physical stores is unnecessary?
We will just have to wait and see what’s in store for us and which glorious tech achievements await.
